Three of the most famous brand in foot wear have teamed up to create a hybrid shoe. Nike, Converse and Jordan Brand have all teamed up with a bunch of talented kids to help create the first 3 brand hybrid shoe. Most of the shoe design came the Nike Air Max Hyperdunk, with some added features from Jordan Brand and Converse. The shoe can be seen in the video link after the jump, so let us know what you guys think about this hybrid and enjoy.
Nike is always looking for new ways to innovate, and what’s the point of having subordinate companies if you can’t draw from their technology and product line? At the recent World Basketball Festival, Nike debuted the first ever collaboration between Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse, an Air Max basketball shoe with some similarities to the Air Hypermax. Check out the video for the whole story.
Nike’s World Basketball Festival was the first time we saw Converse, Brand Jordan and Nike come together as one. As part of the Make Something!! Workshops, the teens involved in the design classes had the chance to work with Nike designers to create a memorable moment and product, a hybrid shoe combining elements of all 3 basketball brands into one shoe. A first, and a sign of big things to come.
The business of counterfeit goods is becoming bigger than most of the industries that they replicate. This is the case with the footwear industry, as more and more sneakers are duplicated and sold for a fraction of the retail price. The New York Times goes in depth with the new article “Inside the Knockoff-Tennis-Shoe-Factory” profiling an Italian shopkeeper who unsuspectingly placed a Nike Tempo shoe order with a Chinese factory that took the shoes blueprint and created over 3,000 clones of the original sneaker. During the mid-1990′s, factory’s began to emerge specializing in knocking off brands such as adidas, Puma and the most replicated Nike. It’s estimated that for every one shoe created legitimately that two knock-offs are created.
While historically Nike 6.0 seems to be the oft-forgotten cousin of Nike SB, there’s no doubt that lately they’ve really been hitting home run after home run, first with their fall 2010 women’s line and then with the instant-classic commercials featuring The RZA. And it looks like the Nike 6.0 Spring 2011 collection will keep the brand heading in the right direction, with some fantastic releases including the H20 Hoody, Dri-FIT Slugger Tee, Full Court Boardshort, Braata Premium shoe and the brand new Nike 6.0 Zoom Revolt shoe. The Zoom Revolt is a new addition to the 6.0 stable and it accomplishes exactly what the brand strides for, namely a great look on an extremely functional shoe. It features a relatively simplified silhouette, streamlined throughout and sporting a no-sew toe piece with heavy reinforcements, intended to protect from the worst that concrete, bike chains and wipeouts have to offer. Check out more looks at everything below the cut, and look for these to hit stores in early 2010.
Check out the Nike SB Zoom Bruin university blue/neutral grey, one of September’s general Nike SB releases. The shoe sports a university blue suede upper with white on the Swoosh, laces and sole unit and … presumably some neutral grey somewhere. Either way, a nice-looking release set to hit stores in about a week. Via highsnobiety.com.
There's no denying that Claw Money likes to keep busy. One look at her cash roll of collaborations and you begin to wonder... when does this lady chillax? Thank god for her recent Vans launch party in Long Beach, California. A quick tan sesh in the midst of business is the only way to do it for this money maker. From smashing out killer designs for Nike, Boost, My Little Pony and (as we've just learnt) Calvin Klein, next stop is a sweet collection of apparel and footwear for Vans. With more bills to stack, Claw has decided that moving office smack-bang in the middle of all these shenanigans is the only way to go. You thought you worked hard? You ain't got nothing on the hustle of Claw Money!
Hey Claw, how's the big office move going? Well, at least I'm not dead. Please someone remind me never to move again. I have too much stuff to be making whimsical and fancy free decisions. We are still unpacking boxes!
Does the upscaling daunt you or do you embrace the change of environment and pace with open arms? I have always bitten off more than I can chew, and somehow still manage to get things done. I thrive off the pressure and the actual tasks of hard work. Really if I have nothing to do, or look forward to, that would be more frightening than piles of looming projects.
Yeah well, not many people would realize just how hard the Claw hustle is... At any given time, how many projects are you working on? Right now we are working on about three projects for the brand, I'm toying with the idea of starting a new magazine and am about to launch another clothing label. Not to mention making art for gallery shows and styling. Hustle, hustle, hustle. It keeps me young.
It never stops! Most would know the big sneaker brand collabos, but don't generally see the full spectrum of what you do. Just how satisfying is creating and working on projects that might not get as much shine as your Vans colab or your Nike shoe? I view all my collaborations as different ways to reach a variety of people and demographics. ‘Sneaker culture' has its devout fans with hundreds upon hundreds of websites and blogs, so sometimes those type of projects get blasted out on a larger level. But we are still a best-kept secret among the uber cool and fashion elite. We are working really hard on changing that. My message is one of empowerment - for women and girls naturally, but really it should inspire anyone male or female, young or old. Mine is a story of a self starter who wouldn't take no for an answer and blasted through stereotypes to say what I had to say. Now I want to bring that message to the masses.
The summer season clothing dropped not long ago, so you've got that kettle of fish to fry as well. How much of the work is delegated to Team Claw and what is your input from a CEO perspective? So really I couldn't do what I do - which is a little bit of everything and a lot of hullabaloo, without the support of my staff. There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done even when employing a full time staff of four and a bunch of part timers. And we can't forget our army of interns. They are all important to every aspect of the business. I value everyone's input and am dependent on them to keep things running smoothly so I can look like a true flawless genius.
What 's the most lucrative part of the empire for you in terms of re-investing in the Claw Money brand - is it the clothing line, the collaborations, blogue.us.... All the things I do hinge upon one another, so even if something is not making income it can help the greater good of the brand at large. The collabos fund the clothing line, the line funds the new businesses and the blog - but they all work together like a big well oiled Ferris wheel, going round and round.
Speaking of collaborations, tell us about working with Vans. How did this all start popping off? It seems like ages since we first heard you were doing something special with the brand. I really respect and admire Vans the brand. I also really appreciate that they do concentrate on their womens division with so much love and care. And I love the team at Vans. I knew them from when I was Fashion Director at Swindle. One day my crew and I were sitting around the office thinking about who we would like to get down with... We were like ‘Yes let's do a Vans!' So I emailed my peeps over there and said, ‘You know what would be awesome? Claw x Vans!' They agreed and we started on the project immediately.
Is it difficult to trend forecast that far in advance? I don't worry about forecasting as I really feel like I set the pace for a lot of trends. Really you just have to trust your own taste level, jump in feet first and act like you know.
Is this the first time you've designed apparel with the signature Claw icon that wasn't for your own brand? I actually designed three seasons of a clothing line for a brand way back in 2004 that was just released in Europe that was a ‘Claw' capsule collection. And also my collection of sleepwear and lingerie for Calvin Klein in 2005, so it wasn't so different. But no, I've never made socks - so that was rad.
Tell us about how you chose the silhouettes for the two sneakers in the pack. What makes them connect with the Claw brand? I chose the silhouettes based off the stuff I'm into right now. I love some low key, non tech low tops and as you already know, I'm a huge fan of all things high tops. But I am sick of the over the top sneakers with super bright colors. I was thinking ‘What do I want to wear?' Something that makes a statement without being too loud, something that sets you apart but doesn't scream ‘Look at me.'
Top it off with some socks, it's a sweet little package... why no skate board? I'm sure there's a bucket load of skater chicks out there who love to shred on a Claw board! I don't know why we didn't insist on doing a skateboard. Totally an oversight on my part! Now that you mention it, I need to get on that ASAP.
We've seen the teaser shots online but when and where will the whole collection be available? They are available NOW! And if you buy them onwww.store.clawmoney.com you get a free grab bag item with each shoe purchase. Why not, we love our customers and we want to hook them up!
What's up next for you - I'm sure surviving this mammoth move is number one on the list! I am right now boarding a plane heading to Long Beach, California to launch this Vans capsule and party like it's 1999. Hard at work designing Spring 2011 then going right into designing and conceptualizing Fall 11 while completing our production of Fall and Holiday 10. Trying to make time for my family and friends who sometimes are not sympathetic to what it takes to keep a small company running (no free time) and working on a killer tan.
This August, Foot Locker and Nike Sportswear celebrate uniqueness and throw out convention with the launch of a new multi-platform campaign entitled ‘I Am The Rules’. Marking the latest incarnation of the iconic Nike Air Max 90 shoe, the campaign gives a platform to new voices; introducing some of the most exciting, independent thinking and groundbreaking global talent from the worlds of football, sport, music and fashion.
Unlike this year, when it seemed like it took forever to actually get a look at the Air Max 2010, we’ve already got a great preview of twenty colorways of next year’s Nike Air Max 2011 running shoe. The design of the shoe clearly fits in with the Air Max 2009 and ‘10, again sporting a 360 Air Max unit although this shoe sports mesh over the upper (conceivably that Fuse textile we’ve been so much of lately) under a more solid layer. Check out looks at every colorway after the cut. Via chajinyoung.com
Obviously the first person one associates with Livestrong is Lance Armstrong, an individual known for a tireless work ethic and overcoming obstacles, so applying Livestrong details and colors to a Nike Trainer 1.2 Mid, a shoe intended not for the competition, but the preparation for the competition, is a natural fit. And you can now grab this pair of Nike Trainer 1.2 Mid Livestrong on finishline.com for $90. More views after the cut.
A brand new silhouette has hit retailers including nikestore.com, the Nike Air Maximas. The shoe features a running-style sole unit with visible air in the heel and a leather upper that sort of resembles a cross between a boot and a Terminator. The first colorway available is dark grey/dark grey-solar red, featuring a grey upper with a red sole unit. The Air Maximas retails at $110.
The Nike Dunk is a shoe that it just seems like will never run out of ideas for new colorways and models. This is definitely proven by all of the releases that we see month after with rarely an idea or colorway from the past being recycled unless it is a classic design that fans are really looking to see again. Today we are going to be taking a look at a brand new version of the shoe, this is the new Nike Dunk High in a light bone, black and lime colorway.
The upper will come in a combination of mostly light bone and black with smooth leather being used for the light bone sections and textured leather being used for the black sections. The tongue will be black although it will be fashioned out of nylon. The accents of lime will appear on the tongue tag and on the laces.
The Nike Zoom Hyperfuse may just be the next hot Nike Basketball shoe that you see everywhere, so now is the time to learn something about it so you can have some wild water cooler conversations about them. Because that’s what most people do at work: drink from a water cooler and talk about the new Nike hoops shoes.
Drawing on the abuse that basketball footwear takes on the rugged outdoor courts in China, Nike offers the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse, constructed with Nike’s innovative new technology that delivers a strong, breathable, and lightweight structure for explosive on-court performance. The Hyperfuse composite is comprised of a superior stability layer, a breathable mesh layer, and a durable outer skin layer all fused together into a unibody composite design. Hyperfuse also revolutionizes the way shoes are built by “fusing” its distinct layers into an engineered composite to provides a level of precision unattainable with traditional cut-and-sew construction. With Hyperfuse, additive overlays are eliminated and engineered zones of support are placed precisely where they are needed. The Hyperfuse seamless unibody design helps eliminate potential hotspots and wear points in footwear. At roughly 12.5 ounces for a size 9, the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse shoe embodies superior lightweight performance. Look for an official release this Fall. See more at Nike Zoom Hyperfuse

Recently, we have featured the Mexican blanket-inspired Macropus Lite in purple colorway. As a continuation of the line, here is the Nike Air Macropus Lite WT, another quick strike edition redesigned by Nike ACG.
This shoe has a completely different aura from its horse hair leather finish with a canvas toe box and tongue. Literally, pony hair was used on the side walls dyed with white and accented by fine stitching along the ankle and heel. The inner lining comes in synthetic fleece and the heel has a blue leather tab with eyelet and brown leather lace as chain.
To match up with the off-white canvas toe, Nike also applied an off-white midsole in plain concept coupled with brown rubber outsole. We notice that no Swoosh appears on the upper, this is because there is only one clean spot for it – the outsole. The Nike branding on the tongue is the only identity it bears.
Check this Nike Air Macropus Lite WT now at Hanon.
You know you’re doing well when you’ve got your own Nike shoe and the brand is making different pairs for different moments in your career. This past NBA season, we saw the young Kevin Durant have a special edition Nike KD II made for him to wear during the 2010 All-Star Weekend. Now, his presence is apparently reaching farther than just the U.S. Pictured here is the Chinese edition of his photo blue/black-white-team orange Nike KD II, which was limited to 100 pairs and honors the Tsinghua High School for winning its third consecutive Chinese National Championship in basketball. You’ll probably never get a hold of these, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a look at them and dream.
The Nike Air Max 1 is a shoe that definitely sees its fair share of releases throughout the year but it isn’t all that often that we get a Nike Air Max 1 QS. It doesn’t happen sometimes though and the proof is right here with this new Nike Air Max 1 QS in this white, varsity royal and neutral gray colorway. This colorway has popped up before but only overseas, so this will be the first time for US sneakerheads to be able to get their hands on a pair.
The upper on these shoes will be predominantly varsity blue, but will also feature a pretty ample amount of both white and gray. These shoes will be extremely limited and will definitely not be available at all Nike stores that have a quick-strike account, so you better be pretty resourceful or have a lot of cash to spend to get a pair.
When the biggest Nike Lebron shoe to date turned low-top, several sneakerheads were unhappy to see that the 360-degree Air Max unit had been left off of it. Then, fans of the Air Max bubble unit were given hope when they saw a low-top verion of the Nike Air Max Lebron VII “Dunkman” with the 360-degree Air Max bubble unit in tact. While a release date for that one hasn’t popped up yet, the Nike Air Max Lebron VII low pictured here in white/white-gold IS releasing TODAY from House of Hoops locations and includes the Air Max bubble unit that several feel make the Lebron VII. Could this be your summer basketball shoe of choice?
