Nike Sportswear had previously opened up an NSW shop inside Head Porter Plus in Tokyo’s Shibuya district. The store carried select collaborations and pieces from the NSW line. Last week, the store refreshed and reopened with the help of architect Nobuo Araki, who had also designed stores for brands such as SOPH. and Base Control. The new space is clean, bright, and retains a minimal look to draw attention to its products. Check out images of the store and a recap of the re-opening last Friday!

Like any hidden romantic alcove, urban legend has it that if a lover whispered at one corner of New York’s Grand Central Terminal. His or her message will reverberate in exactness at another corner at the mammoth transportation hub.
To test that myth, online presence AOL sponsored a free concert last Friday featuring Band of Horses. More than 200 fans packed into the Vanderbilt Hall as Ben Bridwell, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey, Bill Reynolds, and Creighton Barrett performed the latest from Infinite Arms, the band’s third LP. Airy and tempered, audience gently rocked to the melancholy ballad on lovers’ chance encounters in The Factory to the surreal lyrics of Infinite Arms. Though no one will be certain about the urban legend, Band of Horses certainly facilitated a magical evening to start the weekend.

Last Friday, Nike began a new chapter of its community initiative with the opening of the Bowery Stadium, and jolted the space to life with a little 2010 FIFA World Cup related fanfare. The new space in New York City, in all its black and yellow Brazilian glory (as seen on the Nike Brasil Black Pack) looks a little formidable and clandestine, but it is designed to be a welcoming creative community space for both the public and sports event participants.
On the opening night, the Bowery Stadium (designed by New York and London-based architecture firm, Rafael de Cardenas) not only played host to some of New York’s trendiest crowd, but also an art installation “Order and Progress” which celebrates Brazilian soccer through the lens of New york City community, and a multi-media presentation–”Everything Is Practice”.
