While most companies have tried to jump on the skate bandwagon, Vans has been making skate shoes since 1966. Back then Paul Van Doren and partners, established the Van Doren Rubber Company in Southern California. The shoes were produced in store, and continued to be manufactured in the USA until 2007.

As a pioneer in the action sports culture, Vans has gone on to big things, from skateboarding, to BMX, to Surfing events, moto-x and beyond. Even one of the most popular music tours of the late 90’s, the Vans Warped Tour, was combined with skateboarding.
