Singer and actress Jessica Simpson (The Dukes of Hazzard, Blonde Ambition) joins one of the top US clothing design brands for a collection of jeans, jackets, skirts and tops, due on racks in July.
The position of clothing designer isn’t new to the celebrity’s repertoire, but partnering with the sophisticated apparel firm Jones New York further establishes her fashion credibility. Her current Jessica Simpson Collection of shoes, handbags, swimwear, lingerie, outerwear, and even luggage, sold at department stores and on the site www.jessicasimpsoncollection.com, earns an impressive $500 million annually.
The Jones Apparel Group, also associated with lines by Evan-Picone, Anne Klein, Gloria Vanderbuilt, Givenchy’s costume jewelry, and more, signed an arrangement for an extensive denim collection by Simpson, including jeggings and boyfriend blazers, in a modest price range of $29 to $79.
Unlike some other celebrity fashion lines, Simpson’s collection has proven to be as successful as Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ popular Sean John collection.

Around 50 press/media outlets filed into the marble corridors of GILT at The New York Palace Hotel yesterday afternoon for a special presentation – the introduction of the first Artist Line, Heartbeats by Lady Gaga, for Beats by Dr. Dre audio accessories label. Hosted by Monster’s own MC Sincere, the event kicked off with “Head Monster” Noel Lee dashing to the stage on his Segway. The founder of Monster Cable went on showcasing the popularity and growth of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Since its launch in 2008, the stylish yet technically packed headphones have permeated thorough the music industry and beyond. Showcased in music videos, gadget blogs, DJ booth, and most importantly, on the streets. Next to be on stage was Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman, Jimmy Iovine. Before he co-founded Interscope, Iovine engineered and produced records for the likes of John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Tom Petty, and more… Known for his acute ability to “hear” talent, it was Iovine who gave Dr. Dre a demo tape by a Detroit native named Marshall Mathers, later became the best-selling artist Eminem. And like any sound engineer, Iovine stipulated the Beats headphones weren’t designed by technicians like most audio electronics. Instead, the headphones were built around the desires of true audiophiles, recording artists, and music producers. Hence, Beat’s superiority over its peers on the marketplace.
For a brief oration on how it all started, Lee and Iovine was joined by Dr. Dre. The hip-hop pioneer and celebrated producer articulated his own frustration in getting “true sound” from his audio equipment, a catalyst to the start of Beats by Dr. Dre. And with that, the introduction leading to the entrance of Lady Gaga, which nearly created a pandemonium among the press pool. True to her hit song Paparazzi, photographers jockeyed for positions for the optimal shots. After the hysteria settled a bit, the four-some sat down for a discussion panel, moderated by Noel Lee, before taking questions from the audience. In the meantime, demonstration booth with audio spectrometer was set up right outside of the press event, where technicians showcased the new Heartbeats by Lady Gaga headphone collection. Comes in 3 forms, the new collection will be on sale exclusively through BestBuy stores on October 18th, The collection is currently available for pre-order on BestBuy.com and Beats by Dr. Dre online store.

Eve Jihan Jeffers, better known as rapper Eve, probably has a love-hate relationship with her own clothing line “Fetish”.
TheyBF.com reported that Eve has just shut down her clothing line, again. This time, Eve said it’s for good. A couple of years back, Eve put the line on hiatus when she had conflicts with the apparel licensee Inovo Group. Not long after, she partnered with another manufacturer and distributor based in New York, Signature Apparel, and both parties relaunched Fetish last year with a more upscale collection.

Along with shutting down her clothing line, Eve also confirmed that she has left her label, Geffen Records, so if you’ve been waiting for her next album “Flirt”, get comfortable because it’s not going to be released anytime soon.
For the ladies, get your Fetish gear before they really disappear from the stores. You might just end up with a classic Fetish by Eve piece.

Whether it’s basketball arenas or movie theaters, LeBron James knows how to pack a house.
The reigning NBA MVP and Nike pitchman hosted a Manhattan screening on Tuesday night at the School of Visual Arts for his upcoming documentary “More Than a Game,” directed by newcomer Kristopher Belman. James, former Roc-A-Fella rapper Neef Buck and ESPN writer Chris Broussard were among the many in attendance that were buzzing to watch the film, which is set to be released October 2 in theaters. The doc features the story of James and his childhood friends — through first-person accounts and vintage video — as they transform from an upstart AAU team into the national high school hoops champs four years later.
The Cleveland Cavaliers franchise player admits that for many, he’s the big draw on the marquee, but when it comes to the project, he said top billing should go to Dru Joyce II, the coach of Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary boys basketball team.
“Our coach, mentor [and] father figure is the biggest star of the movie,” James explained to MTV News. “I may draw the people in, I may draw the people out of their cars, out of their houses to get into the movie theater, but Coach Dru is the main star of the whole movie. ‘Cause he set us up for more than just basketball, he set us up for more than a game. It was about life.”
The project began as a school project for Belman that turned into a much bigger challenge once he realized the backstories that connected the “Fab Five,” James and three other childhood friends who were later joined by another teammate to pursue the national championship.
“It takes time to do things right, and I thought this story needed to be done and it needed to be told the right way,” Belman said. “It took seven years, [but] if it took 15 years, it needed to be done.”
James was later joined by Mary J. Blige, Akon, DJ Clue, Donnie Klang and Teyana Taylor at Marquee for the afterparty with DJ M.O.S. The fete served double duty as it was also the album-release party for the “More Than a Game” soundtrack, hosted by Interscope Records. The album includes the monster track “Forever,” featuring Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem.
The basketball superstar took a few questions from the audience following the screening. He was sporting a blue Yankees fitted hat and a diamond-encrusted Roc-A-Fella pendant on his necklace, a nod to his friendship with Jay-Z. When the 2010 free agent was asked if he was enjoying his time in the Big Apple, he responded yet before quickly being asked if he imagined himself living in New York, a subtle inquiry about his rumored union with the Knicks next year.
“Maybe,” he said to laughter.

Pop-punk-turned-political rockers Green Day have parlayed their mega-selling, award-winning album American Idiot into a Broadway musical, which now includes Levi’s as its lead sponsor.
Seems Levi’s has found a suitable tie-in to its “Go Forth” campaign, which is centered on the theme of “America’s youth forging its own path.”
“Green Day’s American Idiot album has had a profound impact on music and culture, and this show has the potential to revolutionize modern theatre. We are thrilled to be a part of such a ground-breaking artistic concept,” says Doug Sweeny, Vice President of Levi’s Brand Marketing. “Levi’s jeans have been favored by musicians and cultural pioneers who march to the beat of their own drum for decades, so our participation in this show truly is a purposeful and authentic fit.”
Spring Awakening director Michael Mayer helms the production, which will be performed by the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and feature every song from the album. Costume designer Andrea Lauer handles the Levi’s threads that are slashed and bleached but hopefully don’t look like the dude from Def Leppard’s stonewashed duds. Dystopia never sounded so hip. You can buy tix here.

If you missed the Jay concert that went down on 9/11, not only did you miss a great show, but you missed the sneaker showcase that was going on, on stage. Hov & Kanye stick with the theme of “all Black everything” with Jay-Z being spotted in some black stapped high tops and Kanye wearing the blacked out version of his Signature Louie Vutton Sneaker. It looks like Diddy didnt get the “all black” memo because he showed up in a pair Of Air Trainer TWs, they still looked fresh tho.

Aside from Kayne West’s controversial action (which he later apologized for), last night’s MTV Video Music Awards in New York City was about memories and tributes. Starting with Madonna’s eulogy and Janet Jackson’s moving performance honoring her late brother, Michael Jackson to the closing duet from Jay-Z and Alicia Keys celebrating New York City. In between, Kid Cudi added a salute to another artist who recently passed, DJ AM, while rocking a BAPE Baby Milo t-shirt. The hip-hop artist was spotted sporting another Baby Milo shirt, the Baby Milo Animal Print Tee, while rehearsing with Wale before the raucous evening got started.

There’s a new hype striking the internet world and going straight into sneakerheads’ radar. It’s the photo leak of the packaging for the Kanye West-designed Louis Vuitton footwear, and a little peek at the kicks themselves.

The packaging alone is probably worth $100! Louis Vuitton is of course a high-end brand which will sell the shoes at $800 and Kanye West is a fashion icon/ hip hop royalty, we’d be surprised if they did anything less.
